This is a true story that I heard on KTYD, a local radio station morning program. They got a call from the guy involved about the incident, which happened yesterday:
The guy is an employee of a supermarket in a shopping center called Five Points here in Santa Barbara. Five Points is known for their nightmare of a parking problem. While he was gathering up shopping carts outside the store, a black Mercedes swerved by him and parked in a Disability Parking space. The driver, a woman obviously in a rush, got out of the Mercedes, saw the employee stare at he, raised a finger (no, not that finger) and said to him, "Deal with it." She then rushed into the store.
The employee looked around and saw a police car parked outside the nearby coffee shop. He went into the shop and told policemen what had happened. They said they would be delighted to help out.
The policemen moved their car so it completely blocked the Mercedes from leaving. As the woman rushed out of the store, the policemen took their time and sat in their car chatting. As she stood, fuming, next to her car, the employee said to her in passing,
" I dealt with it."
The next time I need to explain entitlement to my couples, I think I'll use this story.
